I managed to carefully select the plugin development packages I needed without there being a conflict of some kind. Eclipse Rich Client Platform will teach you how to create professional and redistributable RCP applications. I figure this out properly it will be ok. Eclipse 4 has introduced new frameworks, APIs and tools to develop Rich Client Platform (RCP) Applications. Part I and II look like a tutorial, but the rest of the book goes far beyond. Luckily for me the 3.4 release seems to be stable now, although its update mechanism seems to be more stuffed than usual! These books are from the Eclipse Series by Addison-Wesley. The SWT: The Standard Widget Toolkit, Eclipse: Rich Client Platform, and Eclipse: Building Commercial-Quality Plug-ins. After co-authoring the Eclipse Rich Client Platform book, Jean-Michel Lemieux dove head first into the development of a large scale RCP application called Jazz. I will definitely be investigating the platform further but need to get the Netbeans RCP book ! The Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) provides a foundation for building and deploying rich client applications. I was eventually left with Eclipse.
